How it works

Overlapissuer files, then Yahoo
Each fund is opened with its full holdings file when we have one (82 funds, from issuers and SEC N-PORT filings), else its ten largest lines. Your money in each company is added up across every route.
Feesexpense ratio × value
The published expense ratio of each fund, times what you hold in it. Ten years assume 7% a year before fees, compounded.
Next depositfurthest behind first
The class furthest under its target gets the money first, then the rest follows the target. Inside a class, each holding gets money in proportion to its size; a class you do not hold yet becomes a new line.

What it leaves out

Values come from the quantity and price in your rows, not from today’s market, and in the currency you typed them in.

It never sells, never times the market and never picks a stock: the only buys come from the target you set. Taxes, risk and your goals are yours to weigh — this is a calculator, not advice.

Questions

What does a stock portfolio optimizer do?

This one measures what you already hold against what you meant to hold. It opens your ETFs to the companies inside and adds up your money in each, prices every fund fee for the year, and splits your next deposit to bring your mix of funds, stocks and crypto back toward the target you choose.

Is it a mean-variance (Markowitz) optimizer?

No. A mean-variance optimizer picks weights from past returns and volatility, and small changes in those inputs swing the answer a lot. This page works from the mix you decide on and only says how to reach it with new money, so its answer does not depend on a forecast.

Does it tell me what to buy?

Only from your own target. Choose a mix and an amount, and it lists the holdings that get the money, the class furthest behind first. It never suggests a stock you do not own, never sells, and gives no ratings or tips.

Is my data saved?

No. The rows are read in your browser; the symbols and amounts are sent to open the funds and come back as a result. Nothing is stored and no account is needed.

Which funds can it open?

Any ETF or mutual fund Yahoo Finance covers. For 82 funds, US and UCITS, it reads every line: the issuer’s full holdings file, or the fund’s SEC N-PORT filing. For the rest it reads the ten largest holdings.

A calculator on your own target. Not investment advice.
