## In short

- On September 24, 2026, Ondo launched Ondo Intelligent Portfolios: three tokens (High Income, Diversified Growth and High Growth) that each hold a basket of tokenized assets following a model portfolio designed by BlackRock, for eligible investors outside the US.
- BlackRock’s role is limited: it supplies the 3 model strategies, built to Ondo’s specifications, and does not manage, issue, hold or distribute the tokens. Ondo Global Markets issues them.
- Ondo is one of the largest issuers of tokenized assets: its USDY Treasury token held $2.27 billion on September 24, 2026, next to $2.24 billion for BlackRock’s own BUIDL fund, and its tokenized stocks passed $1 billion in May 2026.
- The ONDO token closed at $0.41 on September 23, 2026, up 21% since September 1 but about 80% below its peak of $2.04 in December 2024. It traded near $0.49 on September 24 after the launch.
- Owning ONDO is not owning Ondo’s products or the company. Since its founder’s death in May 2026, control of Ondo Finance has also been disputed in the Delaware Court of Chancery.

# Ondo puts BlackRock-designed portfolios onchain. What it means for the ONDO token

**The short version: on Thursday, September 24, 2026, Ondo launched three portfolio tokens that follow model portfolios designed by BlackRock.** Each token is a whole diversified portfolio in one asset you can hold in a crypto wallet, move at any time and use in DeFi apps, for investors outside the United States. The ONDO token jumped on the news, to about $0.49, but it is still around 80% below its 2024 peak, and it is a different bet from the products themselves. Live price, chart and key facts for the token are on [Ondo's analysis page](https://portfolio-terminal.com/analyse/ondo-usd).

## What launched

**Ondo Intelligent Portfolios** are three tokens:

| Token | Strategy |
|---|---|
| BLKHIon | Ondo High Income, powered by BlackRock |
| BLKDIGon | Ondo Diversified Growth, powered by BlackRock |
| BLKGRWon | Ondo High Growth, powered by BlackRock |

Each one gives economic exposure to a weighted basket of tokenized assets, rebuilt when the model portfolio changes. Holdings, weights and rebalances are visible onchain, and you buy or redeem the whole basket as one token instead of a dozen positions. Crypto outlets report baskets mixing stocks, bonds and Bitcoin ETFs; Ondo's announcement does not list the weights.

"Portfolios like these have never been available onchain," said Ian De Bode, Ondo's acting CEO. For BlackRock, Lisa O'Connor, global head of model portfolio solutions, put it this way: "Tokenization creates new ways for portfolio strategies to be delivered through digital infrastructure."

**Two limits matter.** The tokens are open only to eligible investors **outside the US**, in permitted countries. And **BlackRock's role is narrow**: it supplies nondiscretionary model strategies built to Ondo's specifications. It does not manage the onchain portfolios, and it does not handle tokenization, issuance, distribution or custody. Ondo Global Markets issues the tokens. "Powered by BlackRock" means BlackRock's asset-allocation recipe, not a BlackRock fund.

## Ondo and BlackRock, before today

The two were already linked. BlackRock's **BUIDL**, a tokenized money-market fund of US Treasury bills launched in March 2024, is one of the main assets behind Ondo's **OUSG** token, which gives institutions onchain exposure to short-term Treasuries.

On the other side of the market, Ondo sells to everyone else outside the US: **USDY**, a yield-bearing token backed by Treasuries and bank deposits, and **Ondo Stocks** (formerly Ondo Global Markets), tokens that track US stocks and ETFs. Ondo Stocks passed **$1 billion** of assets on May 11, 2026, less than eight months after launch, with more than 260 stocks and ETFs on Solana, Ethereum and BNB Chain and, by Ondo's count, over 70% of the tokenized-stock market. It has approval to serve 30 European countries and has filed confidentially with the SEC to become a regulated issuer of transferable tokenized stocks in the US.

Source: RWA.xyz.")

The whole tokenized-Treasury market held **$14.94 billion** on September 24, according to RWA.xyz, across 108 funds, down 5.85% over 30 days. Ondo's USDY, at $2.27 billion, is bigger than BlackRock's own BUIDL. It is still tiny next to a Treasury market measured in tens of trillions of dollars, and its average 7-day yield of **3.52%** is lower than the 4.19% a plain 3-month Treasury bill paid on September 23: the onchain wrapper costs something. With [the 10-year at 5.11%](https://portfolio-terminal.com/blog/10-year-treasury-yield-5-11-percent-september-23-2026), a US investor who just wants Treasury income can still get more of it from the bills themselves.

## The ONDO token: a different bet

The launch lifted **ONDO**, the token of the Ondo ecosystem. It closed at **$0.41** on September 23 (UTC) and traded near **$0.49** on the afternoon of September 24, about 17% higher, on several times its usual volume. At that price, the tokens in circulation were worth about $2.4 billion.

![Line chart of ONDO and Bitcoin from September 1 to September 23, 2026, as a change from the September 1 close: ONDO ends up 21.2% after climbing from mid-month, Bitcoin up 9.0%](https://portfolio-terminal.com/blog-sources/ondo-vs-bitcoin-september-2026.png "ONDO and Bitcoin, change since the Sept. 1 close (UTC). Source: Yahoo Finance.")

In September the token ran well ahead of the crypto market: **+21.2%** from September 1 to 23, against **+9.0%** for Bitcoin, most of it in the week before the launch.

Zoom out and the picture is different. ONDO peaked at **$2.04** on December 15, 2024, in the rush for "real-world asset" tokens. On September 23 it was **about 80% below that peak**, even after rising 21% since September 1.

The key point for anyone tempted: **owning ONDO is not owning what Ondo sells.** It does not give you the tokenized Treasuries, stocks or BlackRock-designed portfolios, and it is not a share of Ondo Finance the company or of BlackRock. Ondo's products can grow while the token falls, as they did through 2025. If what you want is BlackRock, [BlackRock's own stock](https://portfolio-terminal.com/analyse/blk) is listed in New York; if you want crypto, [Bitcoin](https://portfolio-terminal.com/analyse/btc-usd) and [Ethereum](https://portfolio-terminal.com/analyse/eth-usd) are the benchmarks.

## The risks the headline leaves out

- **A fight over who controls Ondo.** Founder and CEO Nathan Allman died in May 2026. His estate, now led by his mother, is seeking to remove Ian De Bode and void his pay package in the Delaware Court of Chancery; a September 3 court order kept De Bode as acting CEO while the case continues. A company run under litigation is a risk for everything it issues.
- **Economic exposure, not ownership.** Tokenized stocks and portfolios give you the price of the assets, not the shareholder's rights, and they depend on the issuer, its custodians and its smart contracts working as promised.
- **Not for US investors.** The portfolio tokens and Ondo Stocks are sold outside the US only, and US approval is still pending.
- **Crypto volatility.** ONDO can move 20% in a day. Next to it, a diversified portfolio of stocks and bonds is dull, which is the point.

---

## What it means for your portfolio

**If you hold ONDO,** size it as what it is: a single, very volatile crypto token whose price follows sentiment about tokenization more than Ondo's revenue. **If you are curious about tokenized assets,** the products themselves (Treasury tokens, tokenized stocks, now portfolios) are the real innovation, but for most investors they wrap assets you can already buy more cheaply through a broker or an ETF. [Is my portfolio actually diversified?](https://portfolio-terminal.com/blog/is-my-portfolio-diversified) shows how to see what a new position really adds.

## Questions and answers

**What are Ondo Intelligent Portfolios?**

Ondo Intelligent Portfolios are three tokens launched on September 24, 2026: BLKHIon (High Income), BLKDIGon (Diversified Growth) and BLKGRWon (High Growth). Each gives economic exposure to a weighted basket of tokenized assets that follows a model portfolio designed by BlackRock. They are issued by Ondo Global Markets and open only to eligible investors outside the United States.

**Is BlackRock managing Ondo’s portfolio tokens?**

No. BlackRock provides nondiscretionary model portfolio strategies, built to Ondo’s specifications. It does not manage the onchain portfolios and does not handle tokenization, issuance, distribution, custody or operations; Ondo Global Markets issues the tokens and Ondo Finance tokenizes the assets.

**Why did the ONDO token go up on September 24, 2026?**

The launch of the BlackRock-designed portfolio tokens drew buyers: ONDO traded near $0.49 on the afternoon of September 24 (UTC), about 17% higher than a day earlier, on several times its usual trading volume. It had closed at $0.41 on September 23 and was still about 80% under its December 2024 peak of $2.04.

**Does buying ONDO give me exposure to Ondo’s funds or to BlackRock?**

No. ONDO is the crypto token of the Ondo ecosystem; buying it does not give you the tokenized Treasuries, stocks or portfolios Ondo issues, nor shares of Ondo Finance or BlackRock. Its price moves on sentiment about the platform, and like most crypto tokens it can swing 20% in a day. This is not investment advice.

**How big is the tokenized Treasury market in 2026?**

About $14.94 billion on September 24, 2026, according to RWA.xyz, across 108 funds. The largest were Circle’s USYC at $2.43 billion, Ondo’s USDY at $2.27 billion and BlackRock’s BUIDL at $2.24 billion. Their average 7-day yield was 3.52%, under the 4.19% a 3-month Treasury bill paid on September 23.
